Steve Booker is an award-winning British music producer and songwriter best known for "Mercy", "Stepping Stone" and "Rain on Your Parade", three hits he produced and co-wrote for Duffy's Brit and Grammy award winning debut album "Rockferry". He has also written and produced tracks for Alexandra Burke's "Overcome" and Alesha Dixon's "The Alesha Show" as well as for Westlife, Stevie Nicks, Lindsay Lohan, Natalie Imbruglia and Sugababes. Prior to becoming a producer Booker was a singer-songwriter who released two solo albums - 1990's "Dreamworld" and the 1996 mini-album "A Far Cry From Here".
It was while Booker was in Nashville recording his second solo album "A Far Cry From Here" that he "fell in love with co-writing" and decided to stay and make a living from professional songwriting.[1] He ended up spending around seven years in the USA where he, according to Booker, "[existed] by writing country music and working in Los Angeles, but more top-lining than actual proper songwriting."[1] During this time his cuts included "Too Far From Texas" for Stevie Nicks' Trouble in Shangri-La album and "What R U Waiting 4", which was recorded by Tiffani Wood and Lindsay Lohan.[1]
In 2009 Booker won the ASCAP Writers Award and for Mercy, the 2009 Ivor Novello Award for Most Performed Work.[2]
Steve has recently collaborated with Dionne Bromfield , co-writing and producing 5 tracks on her 2011 début album "Good for the Soul", and also co-wrote and produced "Run Free" on the album "Heaven" by Rebecca Ferguson.
